Viva Europa 2011

Experience a European Cultural Summer from April to June 2011 as the European Cultural Group in Manila presents this festival of Arts, Music, Dance, Films, Languages and Poetry to celebrate the founding of the European Union and to highlight the friendship and partnership between the European Union and the Philippines.

Starting the joint EU activities, there will be the Bersong EuroPinoy 3, also as part of the International Book Day celebration (Dia del Libro) on April 16, 2011 in the afternoon at the Instituto Cervantes. This is a European-Filipino Poetry Recital where different EU member states will participate alongside Filipino poets. From Czech Republic, the poem is entitled “The Water – Goblin” (Vodník) written by Karel Jaromír Erben.

By May, there will be the Lakbayin Natin ang Europa event to be held at the Museo Pambata on May 10 to 13, 2011. This is a week-long festival of European children’s films, literature, storytelling, arts, crafts, music, and games to be participated by underprivileged children from different non-governmental institutions. As part of the Lakbayin Natin ang Europa to be held at the Museo Pambata, there will be a Czech Republic Day on May 12 (Thursday) at 2:00 pm. The 30 participants would be children ages 6 to 9 years old from Dagdag Dunong, a non profit, non governmental voluntary organization. There will be screening of episodes of the well-known Czech cartoon character, The Mole (Krteček). There will also be a clay moulding contest for the kids and a storytelling session of “How Little Mole Made Mouse Well Again”. This is a wonderful opportunity for the kids to be acquainted with the Czech Republic.

From May 18 to 19, 2011 there will be the 3rd European Choral Competition called “Musica FEUROPA” to be held at the Far Eastern University in Manila.  In partnership with FEU, this choral competition showcases European music from various choral groups nationwide.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila brings you the Guhit ČESKO Art Contest starting June 2011. This is organized to showcase the talent of children (ages 10 to 14 years old) from the Philippines in the field of Arts while discovering the heart of Europe. This project aims to bring the Czech Republic closer to the Filipinos. An exhibition of the best artworks will be held in Museo Pambata from July to August 2011. The theme for this year is The Czech Republic through my eyes. The categories of art include drawing, painting, combined techniques (sculptures, metalworks, ceramics, wood, glass, textile, paper).
