Krtek comes to Manila Exhibition

Czech Embassy in Manila, in cooperation with Museo Pambata, has launched the “Krtek comes to Manila” Exhibition, showcasing Czech cartoon and animation character Krtek (The Little Mole).

Krtek is the most popular Czech cartoon and animation character of all times. Loved by five generations of Czech children, Krtek was created by Czech animator Zdeněk Miler as a one-shot character for a single educational film for children more than six decades ago. Miler got the idea to use a mole as his main character when he stumbled over a mole hill while walking in his garden.

Krtek became an overnight success, when the 1956 film "How the Little Mole Got His Trousers“ was awarded at the Venice International Film Festival. Since then, the Little Mole became one of the most beloved cartoon characters both in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Although already in his 7th decade, he is still extremely popular in his home country as well as in China or Japan. Krtek is also an important example of Czech creative industry.

Before his arrival to Manila, Krtek’s adventures involved visiting some of the most beautiful parts of the Philippines. Krtek has discovered the jungles of Mindoro, reached the turquoise beaches of Palawan and Bohol, bathed in the wonderful waterfalls of Negros and worked with farmers in Mindanao, but also enjoyed the Makati skyline from atop the high-rise buildings of Bonifacio Global City. His Philippine travels in the Philippines were well-documented. These captured moments of Krtek’s travel in a photo slide display add another dimension to Krtek’s wonderful experience in Manila.

All children and adults with a playful spirit can admire Krtek´s adventures at Museo Pambata from Tuesdays to Saturdays at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm until 3 June, 2018. The viewing public should note that Museo Pambata is closed on Mondays.

Museo Pambata is located at the former Elks Club Building
on Roxas Boulevard corner South Drive, Manila.
