Two Filipino youth awarded in International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice 2017

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila would like to cordially congratulate the Filipino children participating in the 45th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice in 2017.
 

The “International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice” was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice, murdered by German Nazis in 1942, as well as other children who had died in wars. The exhibition has earned a reputation of being one of the largest and oldest events in childrens‘ art production and has become well known among children and teachers all over the world.

In 2017, the organizers received more than 25,000 entries from more than 80 countries, including the Philippines.  

35 Filipino children participated in the competition. Out of them two youth were awarded with “Honorable Mention” and their artworks were exhibited in Lidice Art Gallery from 1 June – 30 November 2017:

  • Elisha Nuelle Monzon (11) from St. Stephen´s High School in Manila
  • Jasmine Kate Tan (16) from Manila

Deputy Head of Mission Jana Peterková awarded Ms. Jasmine Kate Tan at the Czech Embassy in Manila with a diploma and two books from Czech provenience.

The competition continues in 2018 with the theme of Water. The exhibition is open to children at age of 4 to 16.
