The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila bolsters secure access to reproductive health care in Palawan

The Embassy of the Czech Republic is a partner in ensuring access to secure reproductive health services in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Through the Czech Republic Development Cooperation, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, in partnership with Roots for Health, successfully completed a small-scale development project aimed at improving the delivery of reproductive health services in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The goal of the project was to improve reproductive health service delivery by means of renovating Roots of Health’s Main clinic and Youth clinic for safer face-to-face consultation, providing supplies such as contraceptives, and personal protective equipment that will facilitate better protection of both patients and health workers from the risk of contracting COVID-19, among others. Despite the challenges of lockdowns in Puerto Princesa, this newly-renovated clinic has encouraged women and youth from various barangays in Puerto Princesa to avail of the services offered by the clinic for free.

This project comes as a response to the need for continuity of  reproductive health information, consultation, and treatment during the pandemic to address reproductive health issues in the Philippines, such as the high rates of teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS.

The success of this project shows the continued support of the Czech Republic in helping partner countries achieve various goals that lead to betterment of quality of life of the local population.
