Workshops on export opportunities in the Philippines

Two workshops focusing on trade and business opportunities in the Philippines and Indonesia took place in the Czech Republic – Prague and Brno – on December 12 and 13, 2017. Representatives of the Embasies, bank sector and private companies discussed the opportunities for Czech subjects in the Philippines and Indonesia.

The workshop in Prague took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic on December 13, 2017. The seminar was inaugurated by Deputy Minister Mr. Martin Tlapa. The business opportunities in the Philippines were presented by Trade Counselor of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila Mr. Benjamin Žiga. Representatives of Komerční banka (main partner of the event), Czech Development Agency and credit insurance corporation EGAP also discussed the opportunities in these two ASEAN countries. Representatives of Czech private companies were mostly interested in opportunities in respective sectors of Philippine economy. Czech companies are keen on investing in sectors such as transportation, infrastructure, aeronautics, finance and energy in the Philippines.

The workshop in Brno took place on December 12, 2017 in the cooperation with Brno Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Both of the seminars revealed a huge potential for the trade and business with the Philippines, thanks to its demographic boom, young population and growing middle class. For an export company, it is necessary to have a clear business vision and chose a reliable local partner to succeed on the complicated Asian market in the Philippines.
