1st Czech - Philippines Economic Consultations

For the first time, delegates from the Philippines and the Czech Republic met in Prague to discuss strengthening cooperation in trade and other related areas (investment, agriculture, transportation, environment etc.).

The first Joint Economic Consultations (JEC) on 29 March 2019 in Prague was headed by Mr. Vladimír Bärtl, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and Mr. Ceferino Rodolfo, Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines.

The first JEC took place on the basis of Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA), signed in July 2017 in Manila. The ECA establishes a JEC as a platform to discuss trade, investments, economic cooperation and other related matters.

During the meeting, the visiting Filipino officials also took note of the Philippine Regime introduced by the Czech Republic to complement its manpower needs and conducted business-to-business interaction on food and non-food sectors.

Apart from the protocol, a Memorandum of Understanding was likewise signed between the Board of Investments (BOI) and its counterpart, the CzechInvest, for mutual cooperation.
