Czech Embassy Manila visits British School Manila

As part of the British School Manila’s International Week celebrations (March 19th-23rd), representatives from the Czech Embassy Manila were invited to talk to a group of high school students about the Czech Republic. Ms. Monika Kazdova, Consul and Head of the Cultural Section led the talk with a powerpoint presentation covering the history, famous personalities, food, sports and traditions of her native country.

The hour-long presentation on the Czech Republic culminated with a quick pop-quiz that saw the students getting all the right answers to the college-level questions.

Mr. Mark O’ Rourke, upper school science teacher was there to guide us through the extensive BSM campus prior to the lecture.

The hallways were lined with Filipino handicrafts for sale at affordable prices while Filipino music and dance were celebrated around campus on the day of our visit. Early primary students were seen hopping, jumping and dancing to OPM hit (Original Pilipino Music) “Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko” that was released in the 1970s and popularized by hit band VST & Company. A jeepney was also in sight to complete the local flavour.
