New equipment for the bio laboratory at the Visayas State University thanks to the Czech Development Cooperation financial support

On Monday, October 24, 2022, a festive ceremony of turn - over of the new bio laboratory at the Visayas State University took place. This new bio laboratory was equipped with the new analytical devices thanks to the Czech Development Cooperation financial support.

The First Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila, Ján Krivoš, as well as the President of the Visayas State University (VSU) Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, Dr. Anabella B. Tulin from the same university and Prof. Ing. Ladislav Kokoška, Ph.D. from the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, among others, took part in the festive ceremony at the VSU in Baybay City, Leyte, on October 24 for the turn-over of the new bio laboratory at this university. This new laboratory was equipped with modern analytical devices purchased thanks to the financial support provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in the framework of the Czech Development Cooperation via the Czech Embassy in Manila.

This new bio laboratory was installed in the new Advanced Research and Innovation Center in the campus of the VSU. This laboratory will not only be used by the scientists and students of the VSU but also by the scientists and students of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague during their research stays in the Philippines. Installation of this laboratory may also be considered as an example of concrete international cooperation between the Faculty of Tropical AgriScience of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and Visayas State University in Baybay City, Leyte.

The scientist, utilizing this new equipment, will focus on natural products, proteomics and genomics, health, animal, food, nanotechnology, material science and natural fiber research, and further on safety and quality assurance, and knowledge capacity development.
