Family Unification

Long-term residence permit for the purpose of unification of family is intended for foreigners who will stay in the Czech Republic for a period longer than three months and who are

o   husband/wife of a foreigner who is a holder of the residence permit (the couple must be older than 20 years and the holder of the residence permit must have resided in the Czech Republic for at least 15 months)  

o   minor or dependent major of a foreigner who is a holder of the residence permit

o   minor or dependent major of a husband/wife of a foreigner who is a holder of the residence permit

o   minor

  • who was placed into custody with a foreigner who is a holder of the residence permit or his husband/wife
  • who was adopted by a foreigner who is a holder of the residence permit or his husband/wife
  • whose legal guardian or husband/wife of the legal guardian is a foreigner who is a holder of the residence permit  

    if the minor will be taken care of in the Czech Republic

o   parent of a minor who was granted asylum (if the minor has no parents, the application can be filed by the next-of-kin in the ascending line, or a legal guardian)

o   lone foreigner older than 65 or foreigner who is dependent due to health reasons, if he/she is joining a parent or a child who is a holder of the residence permit

o   a family member of a holder of a blue card in another Member State of the EU.

Applications for long-term residence permit for the purpose of unification of family are submitted at the diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic according to the consular territorial competence. The diplomatic mission forwards the application to the Ministry of the Interior for evaluation and decision. If the application is evaluated positively, the diplomatic mission where the application was filed issues a long-term visa for the purpose of collecting the long-term residence permit. The foreigner collects the permit after the arrival to the Czech Republic at the Ministry of the Interior.

Unification of family application requirements:

o   application form

o   travel document

o   2 photos

o   biometric features – fingerprints

o   fee

o   supporting documents proving

  • family relationship
  • monthly family income
  • accommodation (for example rent agreement etc.)
  • applicant who is a family member of a blue card holder who resided in another Member State of the EU submits a residence permit issued by this state  
  • copy of the residence permit of the family member or a foreign national who has resided as a family member of a holder of an EU Blue Card in another EU Member State is further obliged to submit a document or a residence permit that was granted to him/her as a family member of a holder of an EU Blue Card by another EU Member State. This document must be valid.

o   Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila, in accordance with § 31 par. a) of Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the Residence of Foreigners in the Czech Republic, requires all long-term visa and long-term residence permit applicants, to present   authenticated document, similar to an extract from Penal Register issued by the state of residence - Filipino NBI criminal. The applicant is obligated to present similar document from any other country in which he/she resided more than 6 months in last 3 years. In the event that such a state does not issue such document affidavit needs to be presented. Filipino NBI criminal record must be authenticate with apostille and translated into Czech language. The police clearance from any other foreign country must be authenticated with apostille or superlegalization. The requirement  shall not be older than 180 days.

o   children submit agreement of parents/legal guardians with the stay of the child in the Czech Republic (except when the parent travels with the child, when the parent travels with the child or when the agreement cannot be obtained due to reasons independent of the foreigner)

o   upon request a document proving fulfillment of measures against spread of infectious disease

o   travel health insurance – in case of visa issuance

The Embassy will provide you an appointment at its earliest convenience. Applicants will be accommodated on first come first served basis.
