Czech Republic at the 45th Session of the UN Human Rights Council

The upcoming 45th Session was held from 14 September to 7 October. The Czech Republic participated as one of the 47 Member States of the Council
At the Fall Session of the Council, the Czech Republic especially focused on the human rights situation in Belarus. It took part in negotiations of Council’s resolutions, including resolutions on the human rights situation in Venezuela. Together with the EU, it presented resolutions on Burundi and rights of the child.
Czech Republic, together with its EU partners, requested an Urgent Debate on the situation of human rights in Belarus. The debate was held on Friday 18 September. Following the debate, the Human Rights Council adopted an EU-led resolution with subsequent steps.

- Interactive dialogue with Assistant Secretary-General on reprisals (30.9.2020)
- Interactive dialogue on UN High Commissioner’s for Human Rights oral update on Ukraine (1.10.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with Special Rapporteur on Cambodia (1.10.2020)
The Czech Republic is currently a member of the UN HRC for the term 2019 to 2021. Previously, it served as a Member during the first year of the Council's existence (2006-2007) and from 2011 to 2014.
