Czech Republic at the 43rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council

The 43rd Session of the Human Rights Council began on 24 February. After the suspension on 13 March due to the health situation, its work resumed on 15 June and finished on 23 June.

The 43rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council was held from 24 February to 13 March until its suspension due to COVID-19. It was resumed on 15 June and finished on 23 June. As one of the 47 Member States of the Council, Czechia took part in the Council‘s meetings and in adoptions of resolutions on country-specific situations as well as on thematic issues.

During the Session, the Czech Republic will take part in the following debates and dialogues:

The Czech Republic took part in negotiations of all resolutions during the Session. As a Member State it jointly presented EU resolutions on the human rights situations in the DPRK and Myanmar as well as on Freedom of Religion or Belief and Rights of the Child.

During the adoption of the Council’s resolutions, the Czech republic represented Croatia in its role of the EU’s Presidency.

The Czech Republic is a member of the UN HRC for the term 2019 to 2021. Previously, it served as a Member during the first year of the Council's existence (2006-2007) and from 2011 to 2014.
