Throughout 2020, the Czech Republic has been commemorating the 10th Anniversary on numerous occasions. It presented a Joint Statement on behalf of a Group of countries  at the 44th Session of the Human Rights Council and participated in July 2020 in a series of webinars organized by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Czech Republic established the Mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur in 2010 together with a group of partner countries (Indonesia, Lithuania, the Maldives, Mexico, Nigeria and USA) by a UN Human Rights Council resolution. Nowadays, the mandate has become one of the most active human rights expert mandates within the UN system. In 10 years, the mandate holders published 17 thematic reports on implementation of the rights or dealt with over 600 individual communications. The Mandate is actively engaged in other initiatives at the Human Rights Council on Civic Space and Peaceful Protests, cooperates with Treaty Bodies and builds an increased space for Civil Society in the UN. It also addresses problematic situations in countries.

More information about the Mandate is available at https://www.ohchr.org/en/issues/assemblyassociation/pages/srfreedomassemblyassociationindex.aspx.
