While moderating the panel on how to overcome key business-related human rights challenges faced in Eastern European countries, Ms. Mádlová talked about the important role business and human rights movement can play, the role which goes far beyond its traditional contributions to sustainability.
“Respect for human rights is not just part of sustainable development agenda. It is its essential bedrock. And if we are talking about business and human rights, it has to be more than just a corporate social responsibility strategy,” she underlined at the session. Also, she brought to the attention of international community the National Action Plan of the Czech Republic.
Furthermore, Ms. Lucie Mádlová, Founder and Executive Director of the Association of Social Responsibility and Goodwill Ambassador of the Czech Republic, seized the opportunity to introduce the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Awards, such a unique initiative of hers, to a broad audience of the United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights.
The UN annual Forum on Business and Human Rights is a global platform for stock-taking and lesson-sharing on efforts to move the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights from paper to practice.
