UPR34: Czechia to participate in the review of the human rights situations in UN Member States

The 34th Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), an intergovernmental mechanism examining human rights situations in all UN Member States, takes place from 4 to 15 November. Czechia will engage in reviews of 8 countries.

In the framework of the current UPR Session the Czech Republic will participate in reviews of Italy, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Angola, Iran, Iraq, Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Other reviewed countries are El Salvador, Gambia, Fiji, San Marino, Madagascar and Slovenia.

In March 2020, the UN Human Rights Council will adopt a report from each country’s review, which will serve as a basis for implementation of adopted recommendations. The next universal periodic review of these countries will take place in approximately 5 years.
