UPR36: Czechia continues to participate in the Universal Periodic Review of human rights

On 2 November, the 36th Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a mechanism examining human rights situations in all UN Member States, begins. Czechia will participate in reviews of 8 countries.

During the current UPR Session, the Czech Republic will participate in reviews of Belarus, Liberia, Mongolia, Honduras, Bulgaria, USA, Croatia and Libya. Other reviewed countries are Malawi, Panama, Maldives, Andorra, Marshall Islands and Jamaica.

The 36th Session is supposed to take place from 2 to 13 November. Due to health reasons, it may be suspended. The stream is available at webtv.un.org.

The UN Human Rights Council will adopt a report from each country’s review at its 46th session in March 2020 to provide a basis for implementation of adopted recommendations. The next universal periodic review of these countries will take place in approximately 5 years. In the meantime, the remaining UN Member States will be reviewed.
