UPR42: Czech Republic to participate in human rights reviews of UN Member States

The 42nd Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) takes place from 23 January to 3 February 2023. Among the countries under review during this Session is the Czech Republic.

The universal periodic review of the human rights situation in the Czech Republic will take place on Monday 23 January, approximately 5 years after the previous review. During the Session, the Czech Republic will participate in reviews of Pakistan, Japan, Guatemala, Sri Lanka and Zambia. Other countries under review will be Switzerland, Argentina, Peru, Gabon, the Republic of Korea and Benin.

The UN Human Rights Council will adopt a report from each country’s review at its 53rd session in Summer 2023. The reports will provide a basis for implementation of adopted recommendations. The next universal periodic reviews of these countries will take place in approximately 5 years. In the meantime, other UN Member States will be reviewed.
