MEDEVAC Czech to support ICRC efforts in the Sahel region and the Middle East

A new package of Czech aid signed today will provide urgently needed medical care and assistance to vulnerable groups of persons in Mali and Lebanon, especially those who lack access to such services or whose conditions prevent them from leading a dignified life.

The Czech Republic remains deeply concerned by the humanitarian situation in Mali and Lebanon and the pressure which the hospitals are under. The Czech aid funding to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) of 420 000 USD announced today will help treat the growing number of emergency patients and provide free surgical care for wounded people in Lebanon and treatment and supplies for physical rehabilitations centers in Mali.

Since 2013, more than 100 medical teams have been deployed through the unique MEDEVAC Programme in more than twenty countries, while helping almost 3800 patients.

The Czech Republic continues to support the tireless efforts by the ICRC and its principled humanitarian approach, in particular neutral and independent, all around the globe, while ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance to victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence.
