Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Dr. Pavel Doleček has signed a cooperation with CERN

On 28 August 2019, Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Dr. Pavel Doleček visited CERN. The main reason for his visit was the signing of a framework agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and CERN, which should increase the success of Czech students in selection procedures for CERN student programs.

As a result, the Ministry expects to contribute also to the greater number of permanent Czech CERN employees, which unfortunately currently does not fully correspond to the Czech Republic's share of financing this important scientific institution. Eckhard Elsen, Director for Research and Computing, signed the agreement on behalf of CERN but the Deputy Minister has shortly met also with Dr. Fabiola Gianotti, CERN Director-General.

During his visit to CERN, Deputy Minister Doleček visited ATLAS experiment, assembly hall for superconducting magnets, antiproton decelerator and CERN data center. At the end of his visit he used the opportunity to meet informally with about thirty Czech scientists, technicians and students currently working at CERN.
