Deputy Minister of the Environment Vladislav Smrž spoke at the Regional Forum for Sustainable Development

Deputy Minister of the Environment Vladislav Smrž intervened at the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (RFSD) organized by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). He shared the Czech Republic's experience with the preparatory process for the 2nd Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that will be presented in July at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York.

His contribution referred to several strategic documents related to Agenda 2030 and the implementation of the SDGs that were recently introduced. There is no doubt that sustainability matters to all of us, but our ability to mainstream it into everyday routine is being challenged. The COVID-19 pandemic affected timeline of the preparatory process, i.e. with data gaps and delays in their deliveries. Mr. Smrž however expressed a strong belief that the HLPF 2021 will provide the Czech Republic’s delegates with a unique opportunity to share their experiences and push forward the goals and targets in order to make the Decade of Action meaningful.
