Ambassador Bálek informed Ms Algayerová on the importance of the 2030 Agenda for the Czech Government. This is why the Czech Republic supported the extra-budgetary project "Regional Forum on Sustainable Development" (RFSD) with a voluntary contribution, and expects to participate in the High-Level Segment of RFSD 2022 as well as in the peer learning exercises.

Preparation of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union was also discussed. Ms Algayerová highlighted the importance of choosing a cross-cutting theme for ECE for the 2021-2023 period at the December Executive Committee meeting. The theme should be chosen from one of the four clusters: 1) digital transformation, 2) climate action and carbon neutrality, 3) sustainable infrastructure, 4) connectivity and mobility.

The Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) is a UN standard-setting technical organization of global significance. The ECE's areas of expertise include economic cooperation, trade, transport, energy, environment, forest management, housing and land management, and statistics. The sustainable development agenda is a cross-cutting theme.
