The Regional Forum for Sustainable Development that took place on 6. and 7. April was organized with the financial support of the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic has been successful in implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In international comparison, it has always ranked in the top 15. The economic consequences of COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine may, however, halt the positive developments. In terms of the ability to invest in the implementation of SDGs from the public finances, the greatest challenges are the issue of social cohesion, especially with regard to energy poverty, gender equality, growing number of vulnerable households and the need to provide care for war refugees from Ukraine.

The Czech Republic also organized a RFSD side event on SDGs Awards. The main purpose of the project is to raise awareness about SDGs and the issue of sustainable development in general, and to motivate the private sector to implement Agenda 2030. One such example is Google Czech Republic, whose representative presented what the company does to combat disinformation on the Internet. He also pointed out the risk of increasing digital divide that became of concern especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
