Visit of the Committee on Economy, Agriculture and Transport of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to Geneva

On 25 May 2022, the Committee on Economy, Agriculture and Transport of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, represented by the Chair of the Committee Mr. Vladislav Vilímec, visited CERN and then met with Ms. Olga Algayerová, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The Senate delegation, which also included the Vice-Chair of the Committee Ms. Hana Žáková and Senator Michal Kortýš, discussed at CERN the Czech Republic's interest in increasing its share of the number of CERN employees. Cooperation in the field of public procurement was evaluated positively, with the Czech Republic being one of the 8 most successful Member States in the supplies of products and services to CERN.

Meeting in UNECE focused on the priorities of the upcoming Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU. Subsequently, the issue of sustainable energy, future development of nuclear energy, and other UNECE initiatives in the area of circular economy and removing bottlenecks in the regional transport corridors.
