Annual Security Review Conference

The OSCE Annual Security Review Conference (ASRC) was held in Vienna from 27 to 29 June 2017, this year under the motto "Strengthening Security Through Dialogue". The ASRC provides the OSCE participating States with an opportunity to assess current developments and to exchange views on issues of the OSCE political-military dimension.

OSCE Chairperson in Office and Austria’s Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz stressed at the opening of the ASRC the importance of dialogue, cooperation and willingness to compromise in order to address current security challenges such as military conflicts as well as radicalization, violent extremism and terrorism. Afterwards, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier concentrated on the need for a Structured Dialogue on the Current and Future Challenges and Risks to Security in the OSCE Area.

A special session was devoted to the Structured Dialogue, other topics of the ASRC included the crisis in Ukraine, conventional arms control and CSBMs, conflict and crises situations in the OSCE area and transnational threats such as terrorism and cyber-security.
