Joint statement at the OSCE Permanent Council on behalf of the Group of Friends of Georgia

Ambassador Ivo Šrámek pronounced a joint statement at the OSCE Permanent Council held on 3 September 2020 on behalf of the Group of Friends of Georgia, namely Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

The joint statement addressed a wide range of issues, among others it called for a peaceful resolution of the conflict; called on Russia to fulfil its obligations stemming from the 2008 ceasefire agreement; raised concerns over provocations during the COVID-19 pandemic, closure of crossing points on the ABLs, actions destabilizing the situation, Red Cross access; condemned illegal custody, human rights violations, restrictions to freedom of movement; and supported the Geneva International Discussions, as well as the reopening of the OSCE mission to Georgia.
