March 2023 IAEA Board of Governors under Czech chairmanship

Ambassador Ivo Šrámek presided successfully over his second IAEA Board of Governors (6.-10.3. 2023) as its Chair. Three Czech national statements were delivered.

 

March IAEA Board of Governors (6.-10.3. 2023) in Vienna discussed agenda items on:

  • verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of UNSC resolution 2231 (2015);
  • application of safeguards in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea;
  • implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic;
  • NPT Safeguards Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • nuclear safety, security and safeguards in Ukraine;
  • transfer of the nuclear materials in the context of AUKUS and its safeguards in all aspects under the NPT;
  • nuclear and radiation safety;
  • nuclear security;
  • Agency’s activities related to nuclear science,  and other issues.

The Czech delegation delivered statements on verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the light of UNSC resolution 2231 (2015), on NPT Safeguards Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and on nuclear safety, security and safeguards in Ukraine.

The IAEA Board of Governors also reappointed Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi by acclamation for a new 4-year term beginning on 3 December 2023. The General Conference of the IAEA is expected to confirm the reappointment at its meeting in September.
