Czech parliamentarians attended a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels

Representatives of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic attended a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly held from 18 to 20 February 2017 in Brussels. The Parliamentary Assembly held a joint session with the North Atlantic Council.

Monday's joint session of parliamentarians with the North Atlantic Council followed after a conference of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly committees on political, security and economic issues. Representatives of the national parliaments of NATO member countries used the opportunity to share their views on the political and security environment and the role of the Alliance. Participants confirmed the commitment to increase national defense budgets. The Czech Parliamentary Delegation comprised deputies Antonín Seďa, Adolf Beznoska and Martin Sedlář and senators Tomáš Jirsa and Patrik Kunčar.

NATO Parliamentary Assembly is an independent body that does not govern or oversee the activities of the Alliance. However, it serves as a useful platform for sharing views and information between representatives of legislative bodies of NATO member countries complementing the mission of the Alliance as a community of shared values.
