Farewell visit of H.E. Miloslav Stašek to Bangladesh between July 28-31, 2015

Final farewell visit of the Czech Ambassador H.E. Miloslav Stašek led to Bangladesh where he was received by Hon. President of People´s Republic of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Abdul Hamid, Hon. Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, Minister of Commerce H.E. Mr. T. Ahmed and several other esteemed members of the Government of Bangladesh.  In the end of the visit the Czech Ambassador also met with the representatives of Bangladesh's two main business chambers the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce.
 

Representatives of the Government of Bangladesh expressed their gratitude interest in further deepening of relations with the Czech Republic and with Czech businesses. Bangladesh is ready to welcome and accommodate foreign investment and offers countless business opportunities for Czech companies and investors.

During the courtesy call with the President of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Abdul Hamid reminisced cooperation with the former Czechoslovakia when Czechoslovakian companies built several power plants and industrial parks and contributed to the gradual industrialization and development of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is keen to see more Czech investments and products on local market in the future. One of the main priorities of the current government is energy and power sector, which represents outstanding commercial opportunities for companies like Škoda Power and Doosan Vítkovice. From the Bangladeshi side there is also growing interest in tourism in the Czech Republic and student exchange.

Honorable Prime Minister appreciated the fact that during the last five years were successfully implemented several visits at ministerial level i.e. MG Quader, Minister of Commerce, visited the Czech Republic in November 2012 and a reciprocal visit by the Minister of Industry and Trade M. Kuba was organized in March 2013. Hon.Prime Minister furthemore appreciated the delivery of three aircraft L 410 to Bangladeshi air force in June 2015. Hon. Prime Minister personally participated in the official handover the aircraft. Ambassador M.Stašek mentioned that mutual economic potential has not been fully exploited yet. The Czech side has been currently trying to balance mutual trade exchange, which is clearly in favor of the Bangladeshi side and depends mostly on imports of textiles. The Ambassador stressed that the importance of the successful launch of a range of important Czech industrial brands in the Bangladeshi market that will hopefully happen in the upcoming months.

Both Hon. President and Prime Minister thanked H.E. M. Stašek for his contribution to the further development of bilateral relations and wished him every success in his future career. Ambassador M.Stašek in this context sincerely returned thanks for all the support the Czech Embassy in New Delhi received during his nearly five-years of tenure and expressed his belief that bilateral relations will soon see continuing exchange of important bilateral visits and trade missions that will further contribute to the deepening of mutual relations and enhance people-to-people and business-to-business contacts.
