Visit of Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic J. Mládek in India marked strengthening of economic and trade cooperation

Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Mr. Jan Mládek arrived on the official visit of India on January 28 and 30, 2015. It was the third visit of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic in India since October 2011. During the visit that also included visit to Nepal January 29, 2015, the official delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Czech Republic was accompanied by representatives of 24 Czech companies and a delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic. The visit of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic J. Mládek to India was also connected with the 10th session of the Joint Czech-Indian Committee for Economic Cooperation. During the visit H.E. Jan Mládek visited the capital of the Republic of India New Delhi on January 28.2015, as well as Mumbai which is considered the commercial center of India.

In Delhi (January 28, 2015) H.E. Jan Mládek met with representatives of the Central Government, e.g. the Minister of State for Trade and Industry of India N. Sitharaman with whom the Czech Minister of Industry and Trade concluded bilateral negotiations and signed a protocol of the 10th session of the Joint Czech-Indian Committee for Economic Cooperation. Furthermore, the official delegation of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade met with the Minister for Civil Aviation G. R Pushapatim, the State Minister for Science, Technology and Natural Sciences Y.S. Chowdary, the Minister of Railways S. Prabhu, the State Minister of Defence I. Singh, the Deputy Minister for Heavy Engineering R . Katoch and A.K. Mital, the Chairman of the Railway Board (the executive body of Indian Railways). In Delhi, Minister J. Mládek also attended a business forum arranged by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, FICCI) in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and the Czech Embassy in New Delhi. During the Business Forum were signed four Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation between Czech companies and their Indian partners.

Furthermore, H.E. Jan Mládek attended a working lunch organized in his honor by the Ambassador M. Stašek where he met with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of FICCI and representatives of Czech companies Aircraft Industries, Transcon and IWET as well as with their Indian business partners. Minister J. Mládek gave an exclusive interview to Indian TV channel Doordarshan News and the press conference held at the premises of the Czech Embassy in New Delhi was attended by representatives of 30 Indian media. During a reception at the Embassy H.E. J. Mládek handed over a silver medal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic to Dr. A. Samanta, founder of KIIT/KISS University.

In Mumbai (January 30, 2015) H.E. Jan Mládek met with the President of the Government of Maharashtra D. Fadnavis and with representatives of India's largest corporations based in the State of Maharashtra (Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries and Tata Sons). Minister of Industry and Trade J.Mládek also attended a Business Forum organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy in New Delhi. During the Business Forum in Mumbai Minister J. Mládek met with number of representatives of Czech and Indian companies from Mumbai, and the Business Forum was also attended by representatives of the Czech Chamber of Commerce and FICCI. As a guest of honor at the Business Forum was present Mr. A. Chandra, First Deputy Minister of Industry State of Maharashtra. In addition to the above program in Mumbai Minister Jan Mládek attended a press conference at the residence of the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic Mrs. Rashmi Jolly. The press conference was followed by a reception for both official and business delegation and the prominent guests of Indian business world. In addition to these meetings a number of individual meetings between representatives of Czech companies and their Indian business partners were organized.

Visit of Minister of Industry and Trade J. Mládek in India helped to increase and intensify trade and economic relations between the Czech Republic and India and show the interest of the Czech Republic to further boost cooperation with India in the field of industry and infrastructure. All of the above mentioned events and meetings helped to promote the Czech Republic in India. Indian economy under the leadership of the Indian Government formed after elections in May 2014 is slowly regaining its growth and India's new government keeps coming with a number of initiatives aimed at expanding and modernizing industry sector, enhancing energy capacities, infrastructure development and addressing the most urgent environmental challenges. It is essential that skills and know-how of Czech companies are presented in India today and members of the Czech Government come visit accompanied by business delegations in order to keep open the door for mutual business exchange.
