Ambassador Handed Over Credentials in Nepal

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal  handed over his credentials to the Right Honorable President  of Nepal Bidiya Devi Bhandari at the ceremony, which took place at the Ceremonial Hall, President Palace,  Shital Niwas, Kathmandu, on 2 June 2016.

During the call on the President, which followed the ceremony, the newly-appointed Ambassador underlined how privileged he felt to represent the Czech Republic in Nepal with which his country had always a positive and friendly relationship.

He went on to say that the Czech Republic supported the Government and the people of Nepal in the reconstruction of the country following the  devastating earthquake of April and May 2015 and recalled that his country was among the first ones to send a trauma team, one of the largest, to help people suffering from the enormous natural disaster.

Ambassador pledged his country's support to the ongoing efforts to put Nepal on the path of political stability and economic prosperity. Recently promulgated new Constitution laid the foundation in this respect. He believed that the outstanding concerns of the Nepalese citizens would be addressed through a dialogue and in an atmosphere of compromise.

He also elaborated on areas, where his country saw potential for further expansion of bilateral relations, including trade, investment, education, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts. The first budget of Nepal after the promulgation of the new Constitution, contained a number of areas in which the knowledge, skill and leading edge technologies of Czech-based companies would perfectly fit the needs of the Nepalese economy. These areas included hydro power generation, transmission line expansion, infrastructure, civil aviation and urban development.

Before concluding, Ambassador Hovorka assured the Right Honorable President of his readiness to do his utmost to take the relationship between the two countries to a level which would allow them to utilize fully the existing potential.
