Meeting with Representatives of Travel Agencies

In connection with the launching of the EU Visa Information System (VIS) for India on November 2nd, 2015 and with the interest to continuosly improve consular service and to communicate with the key partners, the Czech Embassy in New Delhi organized the meeting with representatives of the major Indian travel agencies operating in the central Europe, mainly in the Czech Republic.

The main aim was not only to inform about the new changes in Schengen visa application process (mandatory taking of fingerprints of visa applicants applying for Schengen visa for the first time) but also to provide a platform for sharing information concerning tourism and its support in the following period.

By this meeting the Embassy reacts to the substantially increased interest of the Indian nationals to visit the Czech Republic and wants to support it. Tourism plays an important role in the Czech economy and incoming from India represents interesting potential which is not yet fully used. From 8 million tourists who visited the Czech Republic in 2014 a stayed there for at least one night was only 37,384 citizens of India.

Meeting with tour operators is a part of the series of activities realized to support visa facilitation while respecting all rules of the Schengen process, another part is recent opening of 2 visa application centers in Delhi and Mumbai.

It was agreed that meetings between the Czech Embassy and Indian tour operators will be held on regular basis and that also representatives of the Czech travel agencies and CzechTourism promotion agency will be invited.
