The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic approved an amount of CZK 2.5 million from the humanitarian budget of the Ministry for the reconstruction of the country affected by the devastating floods and landslides. The Czech assistance will be implemented through the financing of the school rehabilitation project in Akuresse, including the purchase of necessary furniture and equipment. Based on the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding, the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka is the implementer, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi and the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Colombo. By approving humanitarian aid, the Czech Republic has joined a number of international organizations and countries that also provide humanitarian assistance.
