Srilankan Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Mangala Samaraweera called on the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Mr. Milan Stech as well as the Chairman of the Senate's Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security Mr. Frantisek Bublan and the member of the European Union Affairs and the Chairman of the Senate's Permanent Committee for Czechs living abroad Mr. Tomas Grulach on Thursday June 9, 2016 in Prague. 

 

 

The same day Minister Samaraweera had a meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg.

 

 

Minister Samaraweera took part in the working breakfast with the representatives of the Czech companies and institutions interested in co-operation with Sri Lanka on Friday June 10th, 2016 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in Prague.

 

 

Minister Samaraweera also called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Lubomir Zaoralek the same day. The main objective was strengthening of bilateral relations on political and economical level. Ministers discussed issues of common interest like further deepening of the bilateral relations, notably on political as well as economic level.

  

 

Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek welcomed the results of the last year elections in Sri Lanka and confirmed interest of the Czech Republic to support Sri Lanka in its process of national reconciliation. Minister Samaraweera also invited Minister Zaoralek to visit Sri Lanka next year 2017 when both countries will celebrate 60th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Czech Republic.

The Czech Ambassador in Sri Lanka with residency in New Delhi Mr. Milan Hovorka was present at all meetings.
