Czech Republic Participated in RailConnect 2020 as a Partner Country

The Czech Republic was again in the center of attention when we participated as a Partner country at the major RailConnect 2020 conference, organized by the largest Indian Chamber of Commerce CII on September 8, 2020. The inaugural address by Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal or CEO and Chairman of Railway Board V. K. Yadav was followed by speech of Jan Sechter, Deputy Minister of Transport for EU & International Relations, Railways, Water Transport, Civil Aviation, ITS, Space and R & D, who addressed the audience at this virtual conference. The event was also attended by Ambassador Milan Hovorka and as a speaker also by Marie Vopálenská, General Director of ACRI - Association of Czech Railway Industry, who presented to the representatives of Indian Railways and other delegates the skills and technologies of Czech companies in this field.

The support and promotion of the Czech Railway industry is one of the traditional activities of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi, which actively participates in trade fairs and conferences several times a year, spreading the good name of Czech manufacturers. Participation in Railconnect was conceived by our embassy one level higher, when decided to joint he efforts of organizers – Confederation of Indian Industries as the main partner of the entire conference, Partner country. The representation at the level of Deputy Minister of Transport Jan Sechter, who followed the inauguration of the Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal and opened the conference at a distance from the Czech Republic via online broadcasting, also corresponded to this.

Railway transport is an important part of Development in the history of the Czech Republic and our industrial skills reflect the historical fact, which correspondents with localisation of industry and railway density. This is the densest in the world. Among the Czech most reputable companies belong those manufacturing trams, locomotives, axles, wheels, wheelsets, rails, interior designs & seats, brakes and breaking systems, signalling and communication, traction, project managament or Research and the quality and capacity of this sector deserves the attention also on Indian subcontinent.

The Czech Republic's participation in RailConnect 2020 as a Partner country was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi as part of the "Action Plan for Economic Diplomacy during the COVID-19 Pandemic" and was attended by Czech companies such as BMT Drive Solutions, BONATRANS, DAKO-CZ and PARS Komponenty.
