Approved Small Local Projects for 2019 - Round 2

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic approved one small local development project in Bangladesh and one project for Sri Lanka in 2019. The total amount of the support of the Czech Government will be 788, 829.00 CZK.
 

Bangladesh

1)  Food and Nutrition Security through Sustainable Agriculture Development

The project will be realized by Prova Society. The project is supported by 441, 027.00 CZK.

Agriculture is the main source of income for the majority of people living in rural areas, yet approximately half of the Bangladeshis are unable to access sufficient food to meet their dietary needs. Moreover, farmers have a lack of knowledge in modern agriculture cultivation methods and technologies Therefore, this project aims to implement an agricultural education and training programs for 450 farmers on modern cultivation techniques, goat farming and vermi compost production. Besides, it will ensure that farmers will be provided with paddy, wheat and maize cutter machines and rice and vegetable seeds.

 

Sri Lanka

1)  A boost for Sri Lanka’s rural community - with mobile vocational training and implementation of local production places

The project will be realized by Nature Conservation Society (NCS).  The project is supported by 347, 802.00 CZK.

Rural communities in Sri Lanka have the highest rates of unemployment and poverty, but the lowest access to education and development. This project aims to extent the equipment of the mobile vocational training center, implement a sewing training in four poor areas of Sri Lanka and supply the production places in each area with sewing machines. After completion of the training program women can start the local production successfully and directly enhance their livelihood.
