Czech Embassy took part in MSME and Start-up Expo

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi took part in the 5th India International Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Start-up Expo 2018, which took place at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center, on June 22 - 24, 2018. The concurrent conference on micro, small and medium-sized business development was opened by Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Industrial Development of Uttar Pradesh Satesh Mahana, State Minister of Culture Mahesh Sharma and Shitendra Singh, State Minister of Prime Minister´s Office. The inaugural session was also attended by the Embassy of the Czech Republic´s Commercial Counsellor Milan Dostál, who made a contribution as for the Czech Republic.
 

The three-day event aimed to support the potential of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and budding young entrepreneurs, including start-ups. The ambitions of the trade fair and the conference were to create a platform for networking and collaboration not only on the domestic scene but also internationally in order to help find new business opportunities. Expo expected to be attended by more than 20,000 visitors, 250 exhibitors and see more than 100 B2B meetings. The Expo was also a stage to give away the MSME Excellence Awards 2018 and Startup Innovation Awards 2018.

The Czech Republic is currently representing the European economic tiger, performing above-average economic growth at the rate of 4.4% of GDP. Taking into consideration other important macroeconomic factors, the Czech Republic is presently one of the European Union's fastest growing economies. Unemployment rate have long been among the lowest in the region, and inflation has been kept at 1.9%. The development is also evident in the Czech Republic's trade with India, which grew by 3.25% from January to April and is likely to exceed the last year´s numbers.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic, as one of the five countries, participated in the opening ceremony and the parallel conference in order to present the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech economy and especially in the Czech-Indian business cooperation. "Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and especially start-ups, are just the driving force that exploits the country's endogenous potential in both India and the Czech Republic and creates employers with extremely high innovative value added", concluded the inaugural speech Commercial Counsellor Milan Dostál.
