Roundtable of Tamil Nadu Government with the Czech Republic

On Friday, October 16, 2020, the Czech Embassy in New Delhi, the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and the Czech Honorary Consulate in Chennai organized a long-awaited webinar on economic cooperation between the Czech Republic and Tamil Nadu. The chief guests of this webinar were Minister of Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu, Hon'ble M. C. Sampath and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Ms. Martina Tauberová, alongside Ambassador Milan Hovorka and Guidance Bureau Managing Director Dr. Neeraj Mittal. The welcome address was delivered by Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Chennai, Mr. Ar Rm Arun.
 

The state of Tamil Nadu is perceived as one of the most vibrant regions in India, attracting the attention of foreign investors and businessmen. Its importance is enhanced by the potential of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Chennai, which is headed by Ar Rm Arun, who also holds the position of President of the South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry SICCI. At the same time, sector-wise Tamil Nadu perfectly matches skills and experience of Czech Businessmen, Manufacturers or Research and Innovation capacities.

The chief guests of the virtual round table were Minister of Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu, Honorable M. C. Sampath and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Ms. Martina Tauberová, as well as Ambassador Milan Hovorka or Managing Director of the Investment Promotion Agency in Tamil Nadu called Guidance Bureau, Dr. Neeraj Mittal. He presented to the virtual guests from government and private spheres the business and investment potential of Tamil Nadu. Alongside with him, there were also contributions from sector specialists in Tamil Nadu, including the pharmaceutical industry, the defense industry, electronics, the automotive industry and the manufacturing industry.

The high representatives on both sides were accompanied by 60 Czech and Indian companies interested in deepening mutual relations. The Czech Chamber of Commerce was represented by Director Jiří Hansl and The Southern Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented by Secretary Mr Vinod Solomon.

The success of this webinar was based not only on level of representation, but also on quantity and profiles of all stakeholders on both sides and represented another event from the "Action Plan for Economic Diplomacy of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi during the COVID-19 pandemic", through which we support networking of Czech and Indian companies even in these trying times.
