Visit of Czech Steel Producers to India

Ambassador Milan Hovorka headed a delegation from the steel industry, for which was prepared a three-day program by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi. The business mission was comprised of the Czech companies Třinecké železárny and Moravia Steel, represented at the highest level by Jan Czudek, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, and Krysztof Roch Rucinski, Commercial Director and Vice President of the Board of Directors. On January 10 - 12, 2018, they held a number of bilateral meetings, presenting their production program and products produced in these traditional Silesian companies.

Ambassador Milan Hovorka introduced the delegation on the first day of his stay at the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC), an organization headed by the CEO, Dr. Manghu Singh. Třinecké železárny, which is co-called Werk by most of the local citizens, is among industrial companies with the longest tradition of iron and steelmaking in the Czech Republic. At present, a significant company with a closed production cycle, it was established in 1839. Nowadays, Třinecké železárny is a significant steelmaking company and important element of the region and the town of Třinec, which thanks to its tranformation to the industrial giant. DMRC has been selected as a key entity with a reputation as a demanding customer looking for the best products on market.

The next day of the program delegation continued with the visit of the Ministry of Railways. Hon´ble Minister Piyush Goyal was interested in the possibilities of supplying rails, as well as screws, nuts and turnouts, which India is unable to secure from its own resources. Ambassador Milan Hovorka introduced Třinecké železárny and Moravia Steel as a leading Czech exporter, whose rails have successfully captured the markets of more than 60 countries.

In parallel, meetings were also held with the Executive Entity of the Indian Railways, the Railway Board, which were represented by S. K. Mishra and B. P. Awasthi. Representatives of Czech companies had the opportunity to present their production capacities and products at the highest level and to establish important contacts.
