Delhi Celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of JAWA

The celebrations commemorating 90 years since the start of the production of JAWA motorcycles were held in Delhi on Wednesday, October 23rd 2019. This important anniversary of the Czech and Czechoslovak industrial history was attended by Ambassador H. E. Milan Hovorka, who started and joined the rally of both vintage and new JAWA motorcycles in the center of New Delhi. At the same time, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi in cooperation with Classic Legends, an Indian manufacturer of JAWA motorcycles, organized a social event on Embassy premises, during which a model from a limited JAWA edition dedicated to the 90th anniversary was launched.

Over 60 JAWA owners arrived early in the morning to the Embassy to show off their historic and modern motorbike. The fans of this iconic brand had the opportunity to see not only the historical models such as the JAWA 250 type 353 "Kyvacka", but also new bikes, especially the new "Indian" JAWA 42 or nearly look-alike copy of "Kyvacka" called simply the JAWA or JAWA 300, because of the engine.

The celebrations were launched by Ambassador H. E. Milan Hovorka and Mr. Anupam Thareja, one of the owners of the company Classic Legends, which, under a licensing agreement, manufactures and sells the JAWA motorbikes in India. After their warm welcome, the convoy of the motorcycle enthusiasts sitting in their saddles, headed by the Czech Ambassador, rode through the center of New Delhi. The route symbolically paid tribute to some of the architectural symbols of the capital of India, which were built in the same year as the first motorbike under the JAWA brand in former Czechoslovakia.

The celebrations of the 90th anniversary of JAWA motorbike production continued during evening social event on the premises of the Czech Embassy. An exhibition of motorcycles was a part of the evening. In addition to the “Kyvacka” models, the guests could also see their predecessor, JAWA “Perak”.

H. E. Milan Hovorka with the leaders of Classic Legends Mr. Anupam Thareja and Mr. Ashish Joshi and the representative of the Czech company Jihostroj Mr. Hynek Walner unveiled the limited edition of JAWA model made for the special occasion of the 90th Anniversary since the start of the production. The special edition counts only 90 pieces. The first owner of the motorbike was selected during the evening by lucky draw.
