New numbers of applications for employee cards accepted in 2021

On 14 December 2020, with effect from 1 January 2021, the Government of the Czech Republic approved an update of Government Decree No. 220/2019 Coll., On the maximum number of long term visa applications (applications for visas for stays of more than 90 days) for business purposes, applications for long-term permits residence for the purpose of investment and applications for an employee card, which can be submitted at the embassy. 

Adjustments to the number of applications for employee cards that can be accepted at embassies reflect an assessment of the situation on the labour market, security risks, employers' preferences and the current drawdown of quotas at individual embassies.

As part of the adjustment of the maximum number of employee card applications that can be submitted to the embassy, ​​the entire quota allocated to the Delhi Embassy (1,100 employee card applications received over a period of 1 year) was allocated to the Qualified Employee Program (600 applications) and the High Qualified Employee Program or Qualified Staff and Key and Scientific Staff Program (500) applications.

Based on the above-mentioned government regulation, the submission of applications for employee cards of low-skilled workers, respectively, applications for employment cards submitted out of the named targeted economic migration programs is stopped at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi with effect from 1 January 2021.
