Unmarried couples

Foreign nationals who are in a partnership with a citizen of the Czech Republic or with a citizen of the EU with temporary residence in the Czech Republic and who do not need a visa for a short-term stay (up to 90 days), can arrive to the Czech Republic on a visa-free basis based on a confirmation for entry issued by the MFA (see instruction A and B) or with a Schengen visa for the purpose of visit of family and friends (see instruction C).

Entry is allowed only when Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health stipulations are fulfilled: foreign national is in a verifiable permanent relationship and shares a common household with a citizen of the Czech Republic or with a citizen of the EU with temporary residence in the Czech Republic.

 

KINDLY FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

A) CZECH CITIZENS WHOSE PARTNERS DO NOT NEED VISAS

1. SEND AN E-MAIL to vo1@mzv.cz, containing the following:

1) filled-out Affidavit on Relationship (DOCX, 15 KB)

2) partner´s passport data page (to correctly fill out the confirmation for entry)

3) document/s substantiating a permanent relationship and a common household

Do send: birth certificate of a child, registered partnership document, common bank statement, common rental agreement, proof of a common address, airplane tickets from holidays or mutual visits, or other documents substantiating a permanent relationship

Do not send: documents related to the present or to the future (newly concluded rental agreements or accommodation confirmation, documents on recent travel or visits, newly issued wedding reservation etc.). By submitting such documents you do not prove existence of permanent partnership and common household, based on which we can issue a document for entry. The target group are partners in a permanent relationship separated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Do not send the following either: photos, print screens of personal correspondence, own description of the relationship or declaration by about the relationship by family or friends – these documents cannot be considered for the issuance of a document for entry      

2. AWAIT A REPLY. Persons who substantiate their permanent relationship will receive the document for entry in most cases in up to one week.

Kindly make sure to dutifully observe these instructions. We treat with priority applications where instructions have been observed. Processing of other applications is more time-consuming. Such applications will therefore be replied to only subsequently.

3. PARTNER SUBMITS THE CONFIRMATION FOR ENTRY UPON ARRIVAL TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC DURING PASSPORT CONTROL. The confirmation does not guarantee passage in transit – transit conditions must be verified with the respective authority of the state through which the transit will take place and with the transportation carrier.

4. OBSERVE QUARANTINE MEASURES. By submitting the solemn declaration you undertake to observe quarantine measures stipulated in the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health. Unless arriving from the so-called green country, your partner must fill out a form (www.prijezdovyformular.cz) before travelling and get tested for COVID-19 immediately after arrival. B) EU CITIZENS WITH TEMPORARY RESIDENCE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC WHOSE PARTNERS DO NOT NEED VISAS

1. SEND AN E-MAIL to vo1@mzv.cz, containing the following:

1) filled-out Affidavit on Relationship (DOCX, 15 KB)

2) partner´s passport data page (to correctly fill out the confirmation for entry)

3) certificate of temporary residence

Important: If you do not have a certificate of temporary residence for stay in the Czech Republic (to prove that you reside in the Czech republic on a long-term basis, i.e. more than three months), the confirmation for entry will not be issued. Temporary residence cannot be proved by a proof of address.

4) document/s substantiating a permanent relationship and a common household

C) PARTNERS WHO NEED VISAS

1. FILE AN APPLICATION for a Schengen visa for the purpose of visit of family or friends at the consulate or visa center according to the consular territorial competence.

2. SUBMIT 1) document/s substantiating a permanent relationship and a common household + 2) filled-out Affidavit on Relationship (DOCX, 15 KB) to prove a purpose of journey.

Do submit: birth certificate of a child, registered partnership document, common bank statement, common rental agreement, proof of a common address, airplane tickets from holidays or mutual visits, or other documents substantiating a permanent relationship

Do not submit: documents related to the present or to the future (newly concluded rental agreements or accommodation confirmation, documents on recent travel or visits, newly issued wedding reservation etc.). By submitting such documents you do not prove existence of permanent partnership and common household, based on which we can issue a document for entry. The target group are partners in a permanent relationship separated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Examination of partnership existence:

The target group are partners in a permanent relationship separated by the coronavirus pandemic. Visa will be issued only to those partners who prove existence of permanent partnership consisting in sharing a common household, or as the case may be in long-term partnership characterized by mutual visits or holidays. Visa will also be issued to those partners who raise a child with a partner in the Czech Republic. Visa will not be issued to those partners who do not prove existence of permanent partnership and will base their application for example on newly issued documents and confirmations or personal correspondence without history of mutual visits.
