Czech Film Festival in Tamil Nadu

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi and the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation organized a Czech film festival on May 31, 2017 and June 1, 2017 in the capital of the 70-million Indian State of Tamil Nadu, Chennai.

The show was held in Tagore Film Center, Music College Campus, Chennai - 28

The Czech Film Festival was inaugurated on May 31, 2017 at 19.30, by Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Radka Vondráček and by the Czech Ambassador to India Milan Hovorka.

All projected films were in Czech version with English subtitles.

Dark Blue World

War drama and love story about friendship, heroism and sacrifices and loves of Czech fighters in the service of the RAF during World War II. The most successful film of the year 2001, awarded by four Czech Lions

Jan Svěrák's film is a chamber human drama, set on a thrilling historical background. The story of bravery, heroism and the ingratitude of history, as well as the story of great love, friendship and guilt, is dominated by Ondřej Vetchý in the lead role of František Sláma, a pilot who, after the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, went to the British Royal Air Force to fight against the Germans. A fatal encounter with the Englishman Susan will hit the day-to-day struggle for a life in which friendship is worth the gold. The story recalls the courage of those historians who have betrayed and whose works the next generation should not forget. The most successful film of the year 2001 was awarded with four Czech Lions (Direction, Camera, Music and Editing), Film Critics Award, Main Prize at the Varna Film Festival and others.

Dad Lubos, who works in the Alps as a rescue worker, arrives home to Prague much earlier than he originally promised. Luboš goes to school to apologize to Amálka, but it turns out that he eventually goes to the High Tatras with the whole class as a health escort. His wife Anne (he's just retiring and losing his beloved ballet work) promises that it's only for a couple of days to go to a cottage where he's going to come ... A string of randomness and misunderstanding will prevent it - much of it Amalka, but also the peer-to-peer Pepík and Vašek son with his adventurous character, will enter into the play also attractive teacher Alice, the original family of Koudelkov and their son Vítek, his grandfather Bobulová, the village red-haired beauty Julča, Professor Kája with his sense of mathematics Eastern meditation ...
