Czechs at 8th Global Film Festival Noida

The Czech Republic became a partner country during official inauguration of the 8th Global Film Festival Noida on November 17th, 2015.

Global Film Festival Noida has been organized on November 17-19, 2015 in the Film City of Noida not far from Delhi. The main venue was in the Marwah Studios where film makers from different countries every year present their films, participate in the exhibitions, workshops and seminars about latest development in the film and television industry. This year (2015) there are films from more than 30 countries presented at this festival. The festival has been created as a part of the effort to decentralize the dynamic growth of the film industry in India and to let it develop not only in Bollywood. The main initiator of this decentralization of the Indian film industry is Secretary General of the Indian Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry Mr.  Ashok Tyagi (on photo on the right side).

Czech Ambassador Milan Hovorka reminded that the festival has been inaugurated on the day the Czech Republic celebrates as Day of Fight for Freedom and Democracy. And  cinema, film and television industry is very much helpful in this fight.

The Czech comedy "I Served the King of England" written and directed by Jiri Menzel, based on the novel written by Bohumil Hrabal has been screened after the inauguration of the festival. The film has been awarded by 4 CZECH LIONS as the best Czech film. In 2009 it received the GOPO AWARD for Best European Film. The film has been also given the FIPRESCI (The International Federation of Film Critics) Jury Award.

Indo-Czech film and cultural forum

 

Ambassador of the Czech Republic Milan Hovorka used this opportunity to make several speeches to represent the Czech Republic as an ideal place for making new Indian films. He mentioned that we had already some, for example very successful were Indian film "Rock Star" and "Bang Bang", both shooted in the Czech Republic.

Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee


The Guest of Honour at the festival was a granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi Mrs Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee who is chairwomen of one of the oldest Indian non-governmental organizations "Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust" helping women and children in rural India.

The Czech Ambassador inaugurated also the photo exhibition of the Polish photographer Henryk Pietkiewicz, the second person from the left is Indian TV and media personality Mr. Sandeep Marwah.
