Event with the students of Czech language with the new potential ones

Date: 17 June 2022 7:00 PM, Venue: Czech Embassy in New Delhi

About sixty young Indian students and other attendees, friends of the Czech language, gathered on Friday the 17th of June, 2022, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic on the occasion of the session presenting the Czech language. Filip Dufek, the Czech diplomat, gave an introductory speech where he pointed out why the students should pay attention to the Czech language and the advantages of studying Czech.

The event's primary purpose was to connect the current Indian students of the Czech language who were presented among the attendees with the new potential interested persons. They shared their experiences and stories about why they have been studying Czech. Nine students were awarded for their excellent translation of the Czech texts in the university competition.

The Czech higher education system and public universities are considered very high to Western standards. Students who achieve level B2 can study at any university and whichever study program for free of charge. Many Czech companies run their business in India, such as Škoda, the car manufacturer, Baťa, the shoe producer originally from former Czechoslovakia, or Tatra Trucks, for example. These companies have been looking for new local employees who can speak Czech. It is valid vice versa; there are the Indian investors who want to invest or trade with their Czech counterparts.

The presentation about the language was delivered by the lecturer of the Czech language at the University of Delhi, Ms Veronika Resslová. The event was jointly organised with the Tillotoma Foundation, a global think tank working in the areas of International Relations, Area Studies, Financial, Environmental, Scientific & Defense Policy. We would like to thank the Vice President and Director of the Academic Programmes of the foundation Ms Kamakshi Wason for all her efforts.
