Clarinet & piano recital

As a part of its Cyprus Artists Series, the Pharos Arts Foundation with the support of The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nicosia presented the dynamic Georgiou (clarinet)-Georgieva (piano) Duo as well as two world premier compositions, from which one was written by the Czech composer Lenka Nota.

Cypriot clarinetist George Georgiou hailed for his energetic and exciting performance and Bulgarian - born pianist Gergana Georgieva who started receiving piano and music lessons at the age of six, and by the age of ten, she was accepted at the Pancho Vladigerov Music School in Burgas, performed a very special program of works by Brahms, Debussy and Julian Menendez, as well as two world premieres by contemporary composers – the Cypriot composer Christina Athinodorou and the Czech composer Lenka Nota.

The composition of Lenka Nota, as it is manifested in its title, Ptelea and the other Dryads, is inspired by the mythological three Nymphs, the Dryads and other spirits of the forest. It is not a coincidence that the clarinetist of this recital was George Georgiou as he is a good friend of Lenka Nota and the Czech composer has dedicated this piece to him.
