Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival

Limassol contemporary dance festival in the Rialto Theatre with the support of The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nicosia, was hosting exceptional dance performances from eight different countries, reflecting contemporary dance trends, schools and movements, thus building bridges between the local and the international choreographic production. One of the international dancers who took part in this festival, was a Czech dance performer Tereza Hradílková

The Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival develops and expands with a series of parallel events that bring a festive mood to the festival. At the same time, it continues last year’s innovative initiative of adding a performance for children: titled Party, this year’s event for young spectators comes all the way from Germany and offers to all participants, adults and kids alike, a rare opportunity to cross the borders of language and culture, and dance to the maximum.

One of the special performers of this event was also a Czech dancer and choreographer Tereza Hradílková (live music Filip Míšek & Dramaturgy Biljana Golubovic), who has presented her dance performance Swish on Thursday 6/6/2019 in Rialto theatre.

Tereza Hradílková found inspiration for the physically demanding challenge of Swish while working in the dance film Beating. Fascinated by the ease with which the boxers jump over the rope, their rhythm and their interplay of their hands and feet, she started exploring her own boundaries. The jump rope is more than just a children’s game, it also symbolizes ambition, desire for performance, self-improvement. The performance has won the Dance Piece of the Year award at the Czech Dance Platform 2017.
