Cyprus students awarded in International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice

Ambassador Helena Bambasová handed over honourable mention to Mariia Osmolovskaya and Romi Gold, students of the American International School in Cyprus. The topic of this year was “Landscape”.

Every year since 2016 the American International School in Cyprus opens a workshop for young artists who wish to join the Lidice exhibition and helps to promote it in Cyprus. Mariia and Romi were awarded by international jury with the honourable mention which was handed over by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Helena Bambasová. She expressed hope that even more students would be encouraged to take part in the ICEFA Lidice in 2021. The AISC students submitted most of the 18 works from Cyprus registered in 48th edition and Ambassador Bambasová therefore thanked the AISC Director Mr. Mischa Simmonds for his strong support of the project.

The upcoming 49th edition is open until February 19th 2021 under the title “Robot and artificial intelligence”.

The International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice (ICEFA) was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice murdered by German Nazis in 1942, as well as all other children who have died in wars. This exhibition became an international event and is well known among children and teachers not only in the Czech Republic but nearly all over the world. Every year the Lidice Memorial in cooperation with UNESCO opens a new themed competition.

The exhibition is a competition for children from 4 to 16 years of age. In this year’s 48th edition, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the expert panel of judges selected 1403 award-winning entries amongst 22 216 works of art received from 78 countries.
