Prague Spring 2020 online concerts

The most famous Czech classical music festival Prague Spring rises to the challenge of coronavirus this season and opens up to the global audience. You are cordially invited to watch the festival concerts online.

The Prague Spring International Music Festival is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. It is the oldest classical music festival in the Czech Republic and over the years of its existence it has built a strong reputation and worldwide respect. This season is exceptional as the festival audience will not be present in the concert halls due to the COVID-19 outbreak. "Even in the current challenging time the organizers have found a way to bring this experience to the audience," Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček explains. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is proud to be able to participate in the broadcasting of this prestigious festival through our channels abroad."

The alternative program will consist of 11 concerts, which will be broadcasted live from the stages of five concert halls in Prague and one in Brno. “A solo recital will be given by Canadian violinist James Ehnes, performed exclusively for Prague Spring audiences from the United States. Listeners can also look forward to recordings of legendary festival concerts from previous years, and we’ll be continuously updating and adding to the program as we go along,” adds festival director Roman Bělor.

All concerts can be watched free of charge on Prague Spring website www.festival.cz
