(This article expired 30.06.2020.)

Five Czech startups offering innovative and sustainable solutions in the areas of mobility, clothing, health and education presented themselves to Norwegian experts, investors and the general public during the Oslo Innovation Week 2019. In addition to many seminars, workshops, lectures and social events, the Czech startups also participated in a presentation event followed by a business-mixer which was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Oslo in cooperation with the CzechInvest agency. During the event the representatives of Czech companies met selected representatives of local chambers of commerce, Norwegian trade associations, state investment agencies and incubators. The solutions offered by the Czech startups met with great interest from the Norwegian partners and there were established many useful relations and contacts which can be further developed. A visible success was also the inclusion of two present Czech companies in the shortlist of startups, which got the opportunity to present themselves to the jury and investors in the OIW 100 Pitches.

Czech startups DOT GLASSES, PIKTO DIGITAL, REKOLA, WORLD FROM SPACE and YAKMERE took part in the 10th year of Oslo Innovation Week (OIW2019) on 23-26 September 2019. The aim of the organizers was to connect entities from the private and the public sectors so that they can search for solutions to current global challenges. This year's OIW2019 named “Explorers” brought to Oslo up to 15.000 startups, investors, MNCs and technology experts from around 25 countries. The event was thematically divided into 5 main areas: Future of Work, Cities, Entrepreneurship & Startups, Quality of Life and Explore Oslo. Within these thematic areas, more than 50 thematic events were organized by approximately 150 partner entities with individual activities focusing on the overarching concept of the Explorer. According to the organizers, this can be anyone who contributes to searching for solutions to current socio-economic problems and who is further pushing the limits of human abilities.

One of the highlights of the event was the fifth year of the startup contest, where 48 companies selected from nearly 200 contenders were presenting commercially usable solutions for meeting the UN sustainable development goals in front of investors and a jury of entrepreneurs, innovation experts and company managers. Two Czech startups got the opportunity to present themselves to the largest group of investors in Oslo and to meet key figures in the Nordic ecosystem of startup companies.

At the occasion of Oslo Innovation Week 2019, all the present Czech startups had the opportunity to present themselves to selected representatives of local chambers of commerce, Norwegian trade associations, state investment agencies and incubators at an event organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Oslo in cooperation with the CzechInvest agency which took place at the residence of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic on 25 September 2019. The presentation event which was realized as a project of economic diplomacy (PROPED) was linked to a business-mixer, during which Czech startups had the opportunity to introduce their products and solutions to interested Norwegian entities and therefore establish useful relations and contacts in order to develop future cooperation. The event met with great interest of Norwegian partners and helped to create not only better conditions for further entry of Czech companies onto the Norwegian market, but also stimulated the interest of the Norwegian partners regarding the potential of the Czech startup scene in the Czech Republic.
