The construction of the building dates back to the late 1890's, it is typical of late Victorian vernacular architecure in North America.

The construction of the building dates back to the late 1890's, it is typical of late Victorian vernacular architecure in North America. The first owner was a wealthy Ottawa doctor by the name of Rogers. By the late 1940's it had become the Club for the Liberal Party of Canada and had been extensively renovated both indoors and outside; Prime Ministers Pearson and St. Laurent began their political life here in this building. Starting in 2000, this building became the Embassy of the Czech Republic. In 2006 the first floor received careful renovations which were faithful to its illustrious past.
