International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice

The memory of children victims from the town of Lidice and victims of other armed conflicts has been commemorated for more than 50 years by the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. This year, three awards go to Canada!

The town of Lidice was brutally destroyed by Nazi troops 78 years ago, on June 10, 1942. On that day, 192 men, 60 women and 88 children were killed. All buildings were torn down. However, the memory of Lidice was never wiped out. The town was restored after WWII. The tragic fate of its citizens has been remembered around the world till today.

The International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice (ICEFA Lidice) was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice murdered by German Nazis, as well as all other children who have died in wars.  Every year a new theme is announced. It follows UNESCO recommendations. The topic for this year was Landscape.

This year three Honorable Mentions go to Canada, to Hana Loewen, Czech School in Calgary, Jenny Jia & Wei Han Wang, Da Future Studio Vancouver. Cordial congratulations!
